The Ohio State University community, first responders, military members, veterans, students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the public are invited to participate in the Ohio State University 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Friday, September 11, 2026, as the nation commemorates the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
The annual Stair Climb is more than a physical challenge — it is an opportunity to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11 and to pay tribute to the 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers, eight EMS personnel, military service members and countless others who demonstrated extraordinary courage and selfless service that day.
Participants will climb stairs at Ohio Stadium in symbolic remembrance of the firefighters who ascended the World Trade Center towers in an effort to save others. Each step serves as a reminder of the sacrifice, resilience, and unity that emerged from one of the most defining moments in American history.
The event welcomes individuals of all fitness levels. Participants are encouraged to climb at their own pace while reflecting on the lives impacted by September 11 and honoring the legacy of those who answered the call without hesitation.

The ceremony will include a moment of remembrance recognizing the victims of September 11, as well as honoring first responders, members of the armed forces, and those who continue to serve their communities today.
Participants are encouraged to wear patriotic colors or event apparel and invite family, friends, coworkers and teammates to join them in this meaningful tribute.
