Veterans Backpacking Trip
The Outdoor Adventure Center took seven student veterans plus two trip leaders on a two day backpacking trip. We hiked a total of 17.1 miles in Wayne National Forest. We had a good group of people from composing of Air Force, Army, and a wide variety of academic majors. After hiking a little over eight miles the first day we found a good camping spot, and set up tents. Our trip leaders made Pad Thai for dinner, and then found a small cave. We made a small fire where we ate s'mores for dessert, and got to hear about each other's lives. The second day we ate Oatmeal for breakfast, packed up and made our way back. We ran into a small amount of rain, but shortly after we found the end of the trail and our van.
Veterans Woodworking in the College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Science
Veteran Community Advocate Manny Barnes hosted a woodworking event before finals week where students had the opportunity to create some awesome buckeye themed crafts.
